Driving Safety

West Grand Neighborhood Organization

With 2018 right around the corner and the winter weather here in West Michigan, it's time to be that much more alert. With icy conditions we need to remember to allow more time to get to where we are going. Make a mental note to increase reactionary time and allow more space between you and the vehicle in front of you. Insure that your vehicle is running properly, that the tires have good enough tread and your brakes are working properly. If your vehicle begins to slide, let off of the gas and steer through it. Don't apply your brakes and don't over correct.

New Years Eve is yet another challenge. We all enjoy the celebration and look forward to a prosperous New Year. Let's begin by being responsible and knowing not to drink and drive. Michigan law states that we are not to operate a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% (B.A.C.), and if over 0.17% falls under the Super Drunk Law. If under the age of 21 years the B.A.C level is 0.02 or more. Lets save our money and embarrassment and do whats right. Have a designated driver, use UBER or a taxi. Be safe and Happy Holidays!
